How to connect dv to computer?

There are two main ways to connect a DV camcorder to a Windows computer:

Solution 1 FireWire connection

Most DV camcorders use a FireWire or IEEE 1394 connection. If your computer doesn’t have a FireWire port, you can add one via a PCI card for a desktop or a PC Card for a laptop.

Solution 2 USB 2.0 connection

Some DV camcorders support streaming video over USB 2.0, which allows you to import video via a USB 2.0 connection. To find out whether your DV camcorder supports USB video streaming, either consult the manual or follow these steps:

1.Connect your DV camcorder to your computer via USB.

2.Press Windows Key+Break. Windows displays the System window.

3.In the left panel, click the Device Manager link, and then authenticate yourself to User Account Control. Windows displays Device Manager.

4.Check to see whether the camera appears as a USB Video Device. If so, it supports streaming; if not, it doesn’t.

This will enable you to connect your DV Camcorder to your computer successfully. Then you can use DV Converter on the right panel to capture or transfer or convert your dv video files.
